Caressing my cheek, I feel him brush my hair away from the side of my face, 'You're so beautiful...' I hear him whisper...
In the dark room, I touch his chest, my hand feeling its way up to his neck, up to his chin, up to his lips, and I pull myself close to him, bringing my lips close to his, and then I kiss him gently... 'What was that for?' I hear him whisper...
Bringing his arm along with me, I gently turn to the opposite side, wrapping him around me to keep me warm... I kiss his sweet hand, silently wondering... A few moments pass, and still I'm silent. I turn my head towards his gentle breathing, wondering if he has yet fallen asleep... 'Can't you sleep?' I hear him whisper...
Finally, I sit up, his arm falling to my lap, and I reach over him to turn on the lamp. I see the boxes of our things lying about... 'We have so much to unpack in the morning...' I hear him whisper...
As I think of how we look, sitting on our lone mattress, I giggle to myself. Such an odd couple we must be: An apartment filled with boxes, with a mattress as our single piece of furniture, and a pair of newlyweds who can't get to sleep. 'What are you giggling at?' I hear him whisper...
I become silent once again, kiss his hand, and remove it from my lap. I turn to face him, Indian style, on our mattress. With a somber expression, I look into his eyes... 'Are you okay?' I hear him whisper...
His sky blue eyes start to tear up, as do mine. 'You miss him, don't you?' I hear him whisper...
I nod my head, cheeks blushing, and finally speak to my new husband... "I just can't sleep without my teddy..."
